Why Key West

What to Do in Key West

Recovery in Key West is unlike recovery anywhere else. The island's walkable layout, warm weather, and exceptional food and culture make the time between appointments feel restorative rather than clinical.

A Different Kind of Medical Trip

Key West is one of the most distinctive destinations in the United States, with exceptional dining, warm Atlantic waters, colorful Victorian architecture, and a laid-back culture unlike anywhere else in the country. Most patients find that spending their recovery time in Key West feels genuinely restorative rather than a simple logistical inconvenience.

During Your Visit

After most nonsurgical orthopedic procedures, patients are encouraged to keep moving gently within their comfort level. Key West's flat, walkable Old Town is ideal for short walks at your own pace. Many of our visiting patients enjoy:

  • The Historic District and Mallory Square at sunset
  • Duval Street dining, from casual seafood to award-winning restaurants
  • The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum
  • Gentle boat tours and harbor cruises
  • The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory
  • Quiet time by the water at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park

Activity After Treatment

Specific activity guidelines will be provided based on your procedure. Most injection-based treatments allow normal walking and gentle activity within 24-48 hours. Strenuous exercise, swimming in open water, and high-impact activity are typically restricted for a short period after certain procedures. Ask your physician at Key West Concierge Orthopedics about your specific post-treatment recommendations before planning activities.
