Treatments
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a concentration of platelets from your own blood, rich in growth factors that promote tissue healing. A small blood draw is processed in a centrifuge, and the concentrated platelets are injected into the injured area. Learn more on the PRP Injections page.
PRP uses growth factors from your blood platelets to stimulate healing. Stem cell therapy uses cells (typically from bone marrow) that can differentiate into specialized tissue types. Both are regenerative approaches, but they work through different mechanisms and are suited to different conditions.
PRP is prepared from the patient's own blood and is widely used in orthopedic practice. Stem cell and exosome therapies are considered investigational for many orthopedic applications. Physicians discuss the current evidence, expected outcomes, and limitations honestly with every patient before recommending any treatment.
It depends on the condition and the treatment. Some patients improve after a single injection; others benefit from a series of two or three spaced weeks apart. Your treatment plan will include a specific recommendation based on your diagnosis.
Most patients describe a brief pressure or mild discomfort during the injection. Ultrasound guidance is used for precision and local anesthetic minimizes pain. The procedure itself typically takes only a few minutes.
Cortisone injections often provide relief within days. Regenerative treatments like PRP and stem cell therapy work gradually - most patients notice improvement over 4-8 weeks as the biologic healing response develops. Realistic expectations are discussed during your consultation.
Viscosupplementation is an injection of hyaluronic acid (a gel-like substance) into an arthritic joint to restore lubrication and cushioning. Orthovisc is a commonly used brand. It is most effective for mild to moderate knee arthritis. Learn more on the Orthovisc page.

During your evaluation, specialists at Key West Concierge Orthopedics assess whether nonsurgical care is appropriate for your specific situation. If surgery is a better option, patients are told directly.
Key West Concierge Orthopedics treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions across all major body areas, including knee, shoulder, hip, and back & spine problems. A symptom is what you feel - pain, stiffness, numbness. A diagnosis is the underlying condition causing that symptom. For example, sciatica is a symptom; a herniated disc compressing a nerve root is the diagnosis. This site is organized by both so you can start from wherever you are.
Yes. Back pain is one of the most common reasons patients travel to Key West for care. Specialists at Key West Concierge Orthopedics evaluate the underlying cause - which may include disc herniation, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, facet joint dysfunction, or muscle-related pain - and recommend targeted treatment. See the Back Pain page.
