What Is Orthovisc (Viscosupplementation)?
Orthovisc is a brand of hyaluronic acid (HA) used for viscosupplementation - a treatment that restores the natural cushioning fluid in arthritic joints. It is particularly effective for knee and hip osteoarthritis where joint fluid has degraded.
How It Works
Orthovisc is injected directly into the affected joint under ultrasound guidance. A typical course involves 3-4 weekly injections. Most patients notice improvement within 2-6 weeks of completing the series, with relief lasting 6-12 months or longer in many cases.
