What Is Nerve Blocks?
A nerve block is an injection of local anesthetic and/or corticosteroid near a specific nerve or group of nerves. It interrupts pain signaling and can provide both diagnostic information and therapeutic relief.
How It Works
Under imaging guidance, the physician precisely targets the nerve to be blocked. Diagnostic blocks confirm the pain generator before committing to longer-term treatment. Therapeutic blocks can provide relief lasting weeks to months.
